I'm back again with another layout ... why limit myself to 52 when I can just scrap away at my leisure. It's been good in the heat, as there hasn't been a lot else to do other than housework, washing or ironing. And when that's done - it's time to scrap as the boys have had friends over most of the holidays.

Today's layout is almost entirely Heidi Swapp products. I originally printed my photos in colour but didn't have any papers that I felt matched properly (I'm obviously too fussy as I have a million sheets of paper but NOT ONE was right hehe). So I edited them and printed them up in B&W and decided after sorting through all of my papers I really wanted to scrap in pink, which is very rare for me as I have boys.

These are quite old papers but I still really love them. Heidi's papers are almost a done page before you even start so I didn't have to do a lot except mount my photos, add a few flowers and some rubons, and again hidden journalling behind my large photograph.

I wanted my layout to represent (for want of a better word!) how I just adore my boys. Nothing is put on, it's not a chore for them to offer a hug, a kiss or an "I love you". It's something we say to each other daily and more often than not, more than once.

Layout 5 .... Through The Lens ....

It's been a little while since I last blogged, but here I am.

This layout has a few special meanings behind it. I took these photographs when I first got my Canon 600D in December - and I just snapped away and got some beautiful photographs of Craig and Cameron. These two have a really special relationship - I love that they do. They are SO ALIKE!

I added some hidden journalling at the top of the teal paper where the flower is with the brad. I like to tell the story of the photograph for the boys to look back on later on.

Materials used: Madame Boutique Collection, Prima Flowers, Thickers Letters, Martha Stewart Punches, Tim Holtz Die Cut Punch, Thickers, Mini Alphas.

Layout No 4 ... already

Morning out there,

It's 7.12am here in Victoria, AUS ... I've been up a few hours as there was a notification that came through on the iPad that woke me and the volume was on. Never mind ... I've watched Ep 11 of Desperate Housewives and I'm so looking forward to the next Ep ... Season 8 has been excellent. I'm hoping *desperately* that this will not be their last season.

The weather here for the past two days has been extremely hot hovering around 34C ... ouch! I haven't had any problems sleeping through the night even though weather reports say it has been extremely hot. And I haven't left the air conditioner on either :)

Anyway, I've finished another layout of my son Bailey for his "First Day Last Day" at school in 2011.
Products used: Kraft Cardstock, Kasiercraft Class of 87, Thickers and a few other random bits 'n pieces.

Week 3 Layout ... 2012

Hello blog readers,

I know ... I know I'm early. Pretty good huh? Well I'm pleased.
At this rate, I'm thinking I am going to easily get 52 layouts done. The thing is I did say it was a 52 week challenge to myself. But I can't stop scrapping because I am loving it so much!

So I decided to scrap the boys school photos. I always take a photo of their first day and last day of school each year. It's always good to see the comparison of how much they have grown and changed. But this year, I've scrapped it up!

I've used some Craft Cardstock and Kaiser's "Class of 87" plus a few extra bits 'n pieces. I'm thinking I may even add some twine along the bottom of it to really finish it off, but for the moment I like how it is.

Week 2 Layout for 2012

I'm early and I'm pleased to say I've completed another layout.

So how has everyone's week been? We've been quite relaxed but we've done a few things as a family. It's also been Craig's birthday this week ... number 47 to be exact. A little bit scary thinking we are getting closer to 50. But after all, it's just a number right?

When I first decided to print these photos for scrapping, I thought "what paper will I use" ... I did remember Kaiser had recently released their range Hummingbird, but to be honest I wasn't that fussed on it. Anyway, elements of it suited my layout so I went with it. The background page is a piece of Bella that I've had from a few years ago. I knew when I bought it I would use it one day hehe (isn't that what every scrapper says?)

These two are some serious sweeties. My son Cam is about 5 months younger than Amelia. Our friends Stew and Teesh had two girls, and we had the two boys. Their other daughter Issy is about 5 months older than Bai. So all the kids have grown up together, and they are pretty solid, good little friends. No romance ever I have told my boys - I value my friendship!!!

These photos were taken on the 23rd December at Stew & Teesh's place for our yearly Christmas catch up. I absolutely love the photos ... the kids were great for my new camera and got some of the most adorable, gorgeous photos ever. I certainly had a hard time choosing which ones to scrap.

Melissa K loaned me some of her Spellbinders while she is away so I used the circle scallop die cut ... they're so pretty. You can't really see the embossing - but it is there. Such a great product, and so easy to use are Spellbinders dies.

When I was fussy cutting the yellow leaves, it bought back a flood of memories of when I would sit at Kaiser when I was on the DT, and cut out stacks of stuff. I don't enjoy it as much as I used to, and am avoiding it. My cutting is definitely not as neat and precise as it used to be hehe.

I'll be back next week with a new layout. Hope you all have a great week planned ahead. My hubby is back off to work - and I'm truly going to miss him a great deal. We've had some good fun together. Take care of yourselves.

2012 : 52 Week Layout Challenge & My Word is FOCUS

Hi there and Happy New Year to all my blog readers,

Hope you all had a fun, fabulous and safe new year. Did you all see it until midnight? Not me I was asleep around 10pm. I just don't have the staying-up power when I'm at home with hubby and the kids watching a movie - my eyelids get so heavy :)

I have decided to kick start my new year by setting myself some "achievable" goals if I really focus. After all 1 layout a week shouldn't be too hard? I have done my first layout - and would love to keep on being motivated to scrap, scrap, scrap. I really enjoyed scrapping and didn't find it "hard" like I have in the past. There was no pressure, no deadlines, it was just scrapping how I want to. No rules - I love no rules :) Would anyone like to join me on the challenge? I'd love to have some company.

Also decided again this year to have one little word (Ali Edwards) ... so this year my word is FOCUS. I have been umming and aaahing between focus and devoted. I love both words. The only way I could really make my decision (and it was only a few minutes ago) was to realise that I am already a very devoted person anyway. I am devoted to my hubby, my children, my family and friends. I am thinking that the word FOCUS will be better for keeping myself in check - which personally, I need to do. I am not going to sit my life away at the computer on facebook anymore. I love reading blogs and leaving little messages for the girls out there in the scrap world that inspire me. I have a few favourites at the moment that I regularly visit. If you read this post Marelize, I think you will realise that you are very inspiring. I love your style - I love how you can scrap shabby, clean lines, clusters - and your layouts ALWAYS look beautiful!

I hope some of you will accompany me on my journey here. I have asked my good friend Melissa K to come up with a word ... gosh we had a very funny conversation over her word. I still don't think she has decided - but I'll let her off the hook until she returns from her cruise :)

So it's only day 3 and I have already finished my first layout using some old Kaisercraft "Offshore" paper - I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. This is my youngest son Bai (Bailey) and he had just come out of the water after body surfing and I snapped a few quick photos - I couldn't believe what is hanging from his nose when I viewed my photos of my computer at home ... I laughed a lot. I also showed his bestie Ty, and he thought it would hilarious BUT disgusting hehe.

Hi there everyone ... I sound like Dr Nick from the Simpsons lol

I left a lovely message on someone's facebook page recently, only to be ignored. To say the very least, I was quite hurt. When I see something that inspires me, or that I truly find lovely - I like to say - that's not a hard thing to do. I'm finding it more difficult and harder to open myself up to saying so to acquaintances/online friendships lately when facebook messages are left unanswered and the "like" box isn't even ticked. Am I being silly? Am I expecting too much? I don't think I am - that was just the way my parents raised me. "Treat others as you wish to be treated". If someone ignored a really thoughtful message you left on their facebook page, how would it make you feel?

I often love to leave comments on ladies blogs because I truly know how they are feeling, or feel inspired to create by their work. I would really love to know how many of you out there who are reading this post on my blog have felt the same way? This is not meant to be a negative post, but I just wondered with all this technology how we are supposed to bond with people if all we do is email / facebook / sms etc? How do we form friendships? Please if you have a minute, share your feelings with me ... sometimes I feel as though I am the only person out there in the big wide cyberworld who feels this way LOL!

On a more positive note ... I am very much looking forward to Christmas. I LOVE spending my time with my hubby and boys, my family, my sister in law Jules, and all the other friends that surround me and spend time catching up over Christmas. It's a beautiful time of the year to watch everyone opening their gifts that you have carefully chosen for them with much love - I love to receive, but I LOVE to give more ... it's such a warm fuzzy feeling.

I've scrapped a little bit for Christmas as well. We had our Fab 5 get together last night, and what a blast it was. These girls are truly amazing - and I am sure, and I say this over and over, that they are lifelong friends.

So what are your plans for Christmas? Do you go away? Do you spend your time at your own home? Do you travel to your family? What are your traditions?

I'll leave it there. I'll pop a few photos in of the cards I created for the Fab 5 girls, and their little gifts I did. Also a few photos of the night - to always cherish and remember.

DIY Mod Podge!

Hi there bloggers,

I know I haven't updated in FOREVER ... well that's how it seems. I could have, I have done some work but haven't photographed it. I've been busy with a few things, and in the last week or so we've been doing some renovations here at home, so it's pretty much chaos :) Good chaos though, because it is done now, and time to move back into our rooms that we had the floorboards polished in. Have to say, they look sensational and can't wait to complete the building in the rooms that needs to be done.

I am loving PINTEREST at the moment - I'm not there a great deal, but have bursts of looking around. Something that caught my eye was a post about Mod Podge, so I thought I would share.

DIY: Mod Podge

Here's a great way to save some money on your craft addictions; make you own Mod Podge! And it really works plus it's easy to do.

You need....

A jar
Elmers Glue (here's the link to the product: http://www.elmers.com.au/ )
Water

Empty the glue into a jar. My jar is just an old Salsa Bottle.

Add Water. You need it to be 50% glue and 50% water.

Shake shake shake

And you are done!!

Velvet Ensemble and Pink Gelato

Hi everyone out there in blogville :)

I thought I would update as it has now been three weeks since I finished working. This week has been my first "official" week off, as I have helped Melissa organise the Unmasked Retreat, so that took a little of my time over the first fortnight after I finished.

I wanted to share a few layouts that I don't think I've posted before. This first layout is an old one I did ages ago but really like it!

This is a layout that I did to teach at the Unmasked Retreat. It was inspired by a graphic 45 layout - I absolutely loved the inked doilies! Putting Chanteuse from Kaisercraft worked well for that vintage feel!

I had some cool photos that were taken on my last day at Kaiser, so thought I would do a quick layout to remember! It was a great day, quite tearful and sad - but the girls and I still had loads of laughs.

Last layout for today is one that I did at the Retreat last weekend. I shuffled paper around a lot, and didn't have any embellishments with me. It is Fancy Pants paper "It's the Little Things" ... cute paper! Lots of different colours, I just used the plainer colours as I felt it suited my photo of the boys. Lots of other little bits 'n pieces! Even used my Cricut machine to cut out the word "friends"! Lots of inking as well. I'm really loving using ink lately!

One door closes .........

I haven't blogged in forever, not because I haven't wanted to, but because I haven't done anything I could post here unfortunately.

These days my scrapping is all about my job at Kaiser :) ... and I've started to feel burnt out and wanting to get back into my own scrapbooking. I decided I would create a Vision Board for the year 2011 which outlines all my thoughts and plans for my future 12 months - including a layout once a week, and hopefully by the end of 2011 I would have 52 completed layouts. Hmmm this isn't going as planned so far hehe.

Unfortunately, when you scrap for someone else - or should I say when your hobby becomes your job - it loses its appeal at home :( I've absolutely LOVED working at Kaiser, the opportunities, the things I have learnt - and the people I work with, without a doubt - have been the most beautiful, thoughtful, fun-loving people ... no that's not right - they are actually my friends. Not just ordinary friends - I have made lifelong friends. I know a lot of people in the workforce wouldn't have experienced what I have - to work in this fantastic environment with great people, it doesn't happen very often.

Working during the school holidays has been hard too. Sitting at home listening to my boys having fun while I am trying to focus on work has become another sting in my side. I said to my boys last week "be quiet, I am trying to work" ... ???? What the? This is THEIR home and I am asking them to be quiet while I scrap? Seriously something wrong there ............

So it is with a fair amount of sadness that I decided to resign from the Design Team last week. I am burnt out and need a change ....... not sure what yet lies ahead of me :)

I just want to say a few things about some of the special friends and work colleagues that I have met along the way.

Everyone knows that I was friends with Melissa Kennedy before I started working at Kaiser. Almost 3.5 years ago, Lis asked me to come in and help her with a Spotlight Catalogue for a week - which ended up being 3 weeks. I really did love it. It was pretty great being back in the workforce and earning some extra $$$. Then about a month away and being a SAHM again, Lis called me back in, and I've been there ever since. I've seen our monthly workshop become a glossy quarterly magazine! Then back, by popular demand, to free monthly workshops again. I can't thank Mel enough - you'll notice I say Mel and Lis - I like to alternate between them both. Anyway, back to what I was saying. Thanks heaps for believing in me Lis ... you've helped me become a much more confident person, I do believe in myself a lot more, and I have (not willingly) taught scrapbooking classes. Along the way, we have had stacks of laughs and giggles and fun - yes I can honestly say that working for Kaiser with Mel has been a lot of FUN. There's really too much to say thank you for Lis .... and you know I've tried to say it all along the way - but I really do appreciate you having all the faith in me that you have. Thank you for your never-ending friendship x

Onto Richelle - otherwise known as Shelbs or Poppet. Thanks for all the love and support you have given me ... you've always been sweet and a pleasure to work with. Lots and lots of giggles, have loved seeing all the new products that you source - you are amazing! I will miss you very much xo

There are other special girls on the Design Team that you would really be very blessed to meet and know. I adore Clare Miller and Jess Milinkovic - these girls are awesome, great for a good giggle, extremely talented designers and most of all - they are a pleasure to work with. I'm going to miss you girls xo

Ali W .... gee I'm glad I met you! Thanks for all the laughs and for your caring sweet nature. I wish you all the very best at Natio, they are going to love having you on board, and it won't take them long to realise how awesome you are in marketing. They are so very lucky to have you coming on board.

Not forgetting the warehouse crew - gee they are an incredible team out there. Hey Lizzie, I know you said you were mad at me the other day because I was leaving, but gee I smile when I realise how I have gotten to really love my chats with you, how you always stop in the mornings, and how you lovingly show me pics of your kids .... and all the other warehouse girls too, specially Norms x

Hey tell Kev I'll miss him heaps and his nortiness!

Onto Melinda and Jilly - thanks Melinda ... gee I've loved our chats, your stories, our laughs, my compliments to you that bring you to tears - you're one in a million. Hey Jilly - keep on growing my gallstone buddy - miss you!

Not forgetting Kylie ... what a pleasure it is to have worked with you - some of those ugly laughs we've exchanged - they are for no one else to EVER know about hehe. I remember that day we "lost our shit" over that Lullaby Train - memories to treasure and keep. I don't know how Mel concentrated at the computer the way we were carrying on LOL!!!!!!!!!! Miss you x

To the Kaisers - Steve and Carolyn. Thank you both for having me on board - it was a fabulous ride, but I'm hanging up my craft knife at Kaiser. I still love those cookies, but man I really try hard to resist. Keep cookin' em Carol x

I've had a very bumpy few years while I have been working at Kaiser. I have lost both of my parents and my brother. But all the while they gave me as much time off as I needed and supported me 110% with love, compassion, kindness and friendship. I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else because no one would have looked after me the way they did. And I thank them all from the bottom of my heart. You all know who you are that took special care of me xo

I know that my last day is going to be very teary, even if I am in my mid-40's ... it doesn't stop you loving people you work with, and feeling very sad about not seeing them 3 days a week. Thanks for the wonderful memories Kaiser - I'll miss you! So off with the apron and seeya with some of my own scrapping soon. xo

The Thelma and Louise road trip coming to an outlet near you!!

Mel Kennedy and myself are finalising getting around to checking out and visiting the Kaisercraft outlets and the ETC store in Queensland. Week 3 Layout ...

Ok I know, I'm a bit behind. But that's ok by ME! I know I want to create a layout each week, but I got a bit busy on the home front / children / weekend away and I just didn't get there. So now I am 2 layouts behind.

This layout I've done is of Cam and Craig when we were in Thailand last year. I LOVE the expression on Cam's face ... I just look at the photo and it makes me smile - hugely and warmly. These two are like "two peas in a pod" ... they are so alike - there's none of my genes in Cam at all hehe.

I've used some of our new papers that have been given a sneak peek on the Kaiser blog, plus the grey papers are Heidi Swapp, a pretty paper loveheart doilie, some flowers, ribbons and the flag is a Jenni Bowlin design!

Layout Week 2

Back with another post and another layout for my second week. Came together pretty easy ... wanted to try something different with the butterflies - haven't used them in mass before - but I like them I think :)
These photos of my sister and I were taken by Bailey a few weeks ago after we had been strawberry picking ... he held his finger on the camera button and it took about 20 photos in short bursts hehe. I like them all - just a bit of fun.
I created a paper pile collage in picasa and cut around the pics - really easy stuff.

Now I'm also going to apologise for the poor photography. I think I've got used to getting the girls at work to take my pics and edit them all the time that I've forgotten. I really need a refresher on how to do it! Plus I'm feeling a little bit tired and lazy.

We're off to Gold Class to see Unstoppable shortly - my nephew and his fiancee gave us 4 movie tickets for Christmas. Should be a fun afternoon. Hope you all have a great weekend xo

Sneak Peek of 1st Layout

Well I've got myself back here again ... I'm going to post a pic of my first layout. The papers are on the Kaisercraft Blog and I have only used a snippet of them with some kraft paper. The Kaiser papers used are from our March release called "Nans Favourites".

Unfortunately due to working this week, I was a little scrapped out. I'm working on my week 2 layout at the moment. It's coming together!

I also have this layout I did for work just before Christmas. It's of my son Cameron - I really love these photos of Cam - it shows how much he is growing up!

.... first layout completed

I'm so thrilled I have finished my first layout this year! Thrilled might not even be a good enough describing word ... I'm ecstatic !!!!!!!!! And look at the time ... well within my 7 days - even 6.5 hours early!

There's just one problem. I can't put it up unfortunately. It is Kaiser's March release paper. Of course the magazine is done and finished with now. I couldn't believe how well the papers matched - they were perfect. I might even add some hidden journalling - I've got 6 hours left!

I'm going to come back and upload it as soon as I am allowed though!

I am also intent on scrapping once a week for myself. My layout came together so easily, and I really enjoyed it :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR - feeling refreshed !!!!

Hi there everyone in the world of blogging who visits me,

I know I've been absent for a very long time. To be honest I did a lot of scrapping at work, and not much at home last year due to lots of different things. Quite a few of my readers would know that I lost my brother and my Mum within two months of each other. It has been an emotional roller coaster that I thought I would be on for the rest of my life - but I have CHOSEN to turn my life around and bring some positive back into it. And I am feeling GREAT about my choice. It doesn't change the pain or the loss I've been through - and I miss my Dad, Mum and my brother with all of my heart and being. You get to a point that if you don't pull yourself out of it, you just stay there. I was very unhappy and felt very alone. The walls here were very tight and my family suffered and watched me in a lot of pain. But I am ok now :)

Late last year when Oprah came to Australia she visited one of my school friends, Megan Castran. I've been friends with Megan for a few years now - we reconnected about 7 years ago through a kinder friend. Anyway - Megan has always been a big fan of Oprah, and has followed her path and been to a few of The Oprah Winfrey Shows when she holidays over in the US. When Oprah came here, Megan was LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY to have Oprah call in to her home in Toorak - what a thrill huh! :) :) Megan is a very positive woman - she's always happy, thinking positively and generates a lot of good vibes. She also had a Vision Board last year and lots of great things from her vision board came true. I remember quite some time back also that Oprah read a book and promoted "The Secret" ... I thought hmmm wonder what this is all about, so I popped it in my Christmas goodies for Craig and the boys to give me.

I decided that once the calendar date January 1 arrived - it was time to make some changes. I created a Vision Board (see photo below) and I have started reading The Secret. I'm NOT a reader - except for Scrap Magazines hehe, but I am loving the book. It could be a life changing thing. I'll see how I go. But I have to say, and I know Lis is feeling a little sceptical about it - but there's some merit to the power of positive thinking. Don't everyone go thinking I've turned into a kook please LOL ... I haven't. I just don't want to be thinking negative all the time. I am smiling and I feel happy inside - and I haven't felt that for a very long time.

So I plan to share more Kaiser work and my personal work as this year unfolds. I'm looking forward to it. I have set myself lots of challenges. I have today, and today only to complete a layout. That was one thing on my list. To create one layout a week at home. I know what I am going to do, and I am going TO DO IT!

Thanks to all of you who have supported me unconditionally, and especially to my amazing sister Glenda - she has been my backbone and strength through all of this - I could not love her anymore than I do right now. And to Craig and my boys - you have been an incredible support, and I know that I need to show you all how much I love you - I know has hard it has been for you.
Everyone at Kaiser - you know who you are - thank you from the bottom of my heart. To those that took a few moments here and there with just a back rub, or a "how are you doing Al" ... I know what it all meant - and that means the world to me.
Lis and Shelby - you've never ending friendship has helped me get through the toughest time of my life. I love you both dearly - you're my special lifelong friends x
Also to Teesh and Stew - thank you for being there for me. I will plant my beautiful "Mothers Love" rose in a very special place. Every phone call you made, every tear you cried for me - I know how much you missed my Mum too x

Morning ladies,

And what a beautiful, sunshiney morning it is! Hope you all have a great day.

Last night I scrapped one layout, and this morning I finished my second! Yes, I'm pretty happy about that!

The first one is my photos from Ros M ... loved the photo of her three children, and found it pretty easy! I de-saturated the photo slightly and fiddled with a couple of other settings in photoshop. I was then able to scrap this photos in creams / browns / neturals. I hope Ros likes what I have done.

The second page I have done is for Michelle. She gave me her photo when she was here a while back giving her some help (I hope) with re-sizing photos. The photo was black and white - and her favourite colour is pink! Hope you like it Shell :)

Q3 Layouts

Just thought I would put my February release layouts on my blog.

Here is my La Di Da Layout (paper designed by Clare Miller). It is one of my closest friends' daughters Amelia - she is on the right.

This is my layout for Devonshire (paper again designed by Clare Miller). I printed the photos on canvas! I know you can't tell by looking at it, but in real life is looks pretty cool! I like the texture !

This layout done in Shaken Not Stirred (designed by Chris Downey) is featured in this month's issue of Scrapbook Creations in the Technique Focus on "circles". Of course this is my little boy Bailey being a delight and pleasure and funny as always! Love this little guy with all my heart xx

This is another layout which was featured in Scrapbooking Memories with the focus being on flourishes. Gypsy Sister's Paper Collection designed by Mikala Robinson-Koss. And here I am with Mel and Shell - two of my favourite people x

This layout t I did with Shaken Not Stirred (by Chris Downey). Great boy paper, good for teens, men of all ages really! You can make it look cool, funky and classy - just like James Bond!

I was on a bit of a roll this weekend. I completed another layout today. I've really enjoyed myself. More than I have in a long while. This one took a little bit longer to come together - I just couldn't decide on papers.

I've used Kaisercraft "Christmas Carnival" and also Heidi Swapp as the main background page. I really love Heidi's products and papers - they're pretty cool!

This layout is from Christmas with Aggie, Bee, Richelle, Melissa and me celebrating. Hopefully it will be a long standing tradition. It was so nice of Aggie and Bee to go to the amount of effort with food ... although the 101 slices were a bit lean hehe. These photos were pretty casual and no effort was required on our part - they came naturally!

I have to say this was one of the funniest things ever ... and of course it involves Melissa Kennedy LOL!

We spent yet another day at the beach with Mel and the girls. I was watching Cam and Jess write everyone's names in the sand ... I turned around to hear giggling and laughter. And there it is ... Melissa and Bailey slinging wet sand at each other. No guesses for who started it ... yes, the biggest kid of them all LOL.

I thought it would be good when the throwing was over to get a pic of all involved to show how dirty they are. I'm sure you can all see who was misbehaving! And I wouldn't have it any other way. OMGOSH this was an easy layout to do, and so much fun doing it just for myself instead of work.

Thanks for a great day Mel - I honestly wouldn't change a thing about that day. I still sit and giggle about it now. You are so hilarious !!!! Don't ever change :)

Mini Album for my SIL

I did this album a long time ago for Kaisercraft. It is one of the wood albums that unfortunately didn't go ahead. And the paper didn't go ahead either but I decided to finish scrapping it because I loved the paper, the album and I knew where I wanted to go with my scrapping.

There are lots of things in life we SHOULD say to people, but we don't. I really realised that when my Dad was sick. I didn't want to live with regrets. So I decided that I would say how I felt and express my emotions to people I truly love and care about.

One of my favourite people in the world is Jules - she's really special and important to me. I honestly love my life - she makes it a whole lot richer being a part of it. I'm so happy that I met Craig (obviously) but what a bonus to cherish when I got such an amazing sister in law as Jules.

I thought I would share this album .... maybe if there is enough demand for it, we might be able to see what we can do about making it a product. Who knows eh?

Time for a tattoo

Yes I decided to bite the bullet and get a tattoo ...... only a fake one though. I was down at Eastern Beach with my boys, Melissa & her girls when we saw the tattoo stand. We both decided we would get one done on the sides of our ankles. They came out pretty cool. Mind last two weeks - I washed the remains of it off this morning. For $6 I thought they were alright. I would not ever get a real one though. I like the idea of washing it off too much hehe.

Oh yea wanted to say too, that now I have a suntan over where the tattoo was, I have a pretty shadow of the butterfly. Have yourself a wonderful day xx

A little bit of Ali Edwards inspiration for the year ahead ........

Just starting to read through my blog list, and saw that Ali Edwards has a post "One Little Word: 2010 List". It got me thinking and wondering if there was one word there for me - a word that I could think about during the year.

I chose the word "believe" for myself. I don't really have a lot of faith in myself in lots of ways - and this year I thought I would try and put myself out there a little bit more. By that I mean taking some risks. I tend to stay really safe, but this year I am going to try to take a big step forward. I have some things coming up with work - that are big for me and I am a little nervous. I'm not really nervous yet, but I have some big shoes to step into to take these steps. I'll be able to share the news a little bit later on.

So for those of you who think "Eh I can't do this or that" ... take a deep breath, take a step forward and go for it.

Well it's been a while I know. I hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas, and here's wishing you a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous New Year :)

Thank you to everyone who visits and leaves me messages of support and encouragement. I am going to try and make some time to visit my favourite blogs a bit more regularly. The rush of late last year sent me into a mini whirlwind - but I think I am out, and standing firmly on the ground again lol.

Life has been busy. I'm still on holidays from work - due back in next Monday. Thems the breaks huh? The holidays have been great. A few visits to the beach (plus a little sunburn), still going to the gym with Melissa - it's been a month now and I still feel exhausted after it ... that must mean I am working out really hard huh LOL?

It was my hubby's birthday yesterday - OMGOSH he turned 45! I can't believe we are in our mid-forties now. Yikes! Where does the time go? He had a great day though. We went to Pakington Cottage for breakfast, a little shopping at a computer shop (yes boring for us girls) but necessary, home again, then off to the beach in the afternoon for Bailey to try out his new skimmer board. The skimmer board works like a treat ... so much better than the first cheap one we bought. If anyone is going to invest - pay the little bit extra - you won't be disappointed :)

I have a few layouts to post up that I did at work with two new ranges of paper. Both ranges have been re-coloured and extra pages added - from the Duchess and Empire ranges. I really like both ranges and have made a few extra BTP's - both which I can't share yet either.

Kaisercraft Q2 .... BTP

Here is my BTP work from the Q2 Magazine - I really enjoyed everything we did here. And something new that we did at Kaiser in Geelong, was we had a big scrap day with all of the design team! It was a lot of fun and everyone created such amazing work - it's great to have everyone hands on to learn about the products and how they are used.

This is a triple frame pack in Christmas Carnival. I really love the photos of the boys!

This is probably one of my favourite BTP's from this quarter. I love the diversity of the album - which can also be used as a picture frame.

And this was another favourite. The train caddy covered in Dear Santa. I didn't think it would look as lovely as this! I'm really happy with it!

My other favourite, favourite FAVOURITE range of paper was Rewind - designed by Nic Wingert. This was such fantastic boy paper, and I loved using it. This idea was originally originally from Jo at Memories 2 Remember who I'd love to give credit to.

Might leave it there, and upload some of my other projects shortly.

A Touch of Spookiness ....... BOO!

The lead up to Halloween has been pretty exciting at our place. I made invitations for my friends - some of which, disappointingly, didn't even reply ... hmmm. I bought lots of special lollies this year - all in the halloween theme, and we added to our halloween collection with lots of new and gruesome stuff.

On Friday last Craig had the day off work and we set up together inside. There was lots to be done. We put lots of black plastic tablecloth which we had cut into strands on the ceiling to give an eerie effect! We also hung it on our back window for a darker effect!

I set up two tables this year ago. One with orange & black - mainly for food. My red & black table was decoration only.

This year, as all the kids are older, I labelled all the food with little table cards. Hehe, that was fun! I made matching lolly bags too with all the kids' names on their own - which I didn't get a photo of unfortunately.

Craig took all the kids trick or treating. And some of us big adults, even went trick or treating together hehe. Here is a photo of my boys, and a photo of most of the kids.

And just to finish off a few more photos, here is a collage. Thanks to all our family and friends who came along - it wouldn't have been the same without you xx

Digi Layout

I still laugh when I look at this layout I did. Really, I don't ever put "silly" photos of myself out there. But when Ali Woods at work asked me if I could do a digi layout that could be used for the blog, and a title was to be chosen for it - I thought that picture might be funny enough for it.

So here it is - I feel a bit exposed but hey, what's life if you can't have a giggle about it?

It is done in Kaiser's Jingles Digi Range, and it is really easy to use. It's only my second digi layout, and I'm thinking I could be converted. Maybe !!!!!

Lis came around to visit me on Friday night, and as we were walking down the hallway she spotted a layout sitting on my desk. She came to a very abrupt halt, said "oh you are working on a layout" .... she looked and said "oh you've had that there ages Al" .... yea it's pretty hopeless of me. I've sat and looked and looked and moved bits around but was never "happy" with it. So Lis - you inspired me to finish it.
I must say Lis wasn't unkind about it at all - it was really funny what she said - she was excited to see I was working on something other than Kaiser I think.

Anyway, it is done. I like it - and I actually hand journalled - which is pretty much out of my comfort zone. I prefer to type so it looks neat. But it is true, your handwriting is an important part of scrapbooking, and in years to come - I am certain my boys will love seeing that I did write on some of my layouts.

I know it has been ages since I last blogged, and there has been a lot going on but I just haven't had the time! Work has been incredibly busy - and now I'm on holidays nothing much is a priority except catching up with my family and friends. I'll update about some other things later on.

But I have done a little bit of scrapping! Yes scrapping at home. Not work! It's been fun actually hehe.

I've made my Halloween Invitations - I'm thinking I might print some out for the boys to give out to their school friends though. It's all taking quite a while. I've done the invites mainly on the Cricut. Then the Cricut gave up on me last night. I think the blade is blunt. I rang Raqual at Chandon today and she came to my rescue. She was FANTASTIC! She offered me to come into the shop and cut the rest of my little pumpkins that needed doing. I need a new blade but will have to sit tight for a few days until Raqual's order arrives.

Thank You so much to you girls at Chandon for your help over the past few days. You've been awesome. Yes of course, I'll continue to nag for Halloween paper - cos I don't reckon Christmas paper does it for me LOL!!!!!!!

Tag This Hybrid Layout

Ok, I'm new to this "hybrid" thing lol. But that's what my layout was called at work.

So I LOVE this range that Clare Miller did (see the link to Clare's blog on my blog list) ... she's very talented. So when I heard our papers were going digi, Clare printed me a set up. I had been waiting for ages to have a play, and here's what I came up with. I love the vibrant blues and lime greens - they look HOT!

Only problem was I didn't have any photos to scrap with. And when my son Bailey chose this hoodie recently I had a lightbulb moment. So we took a few pics and the layout came together really easily. Quite a few other elements beside Kaisercraft here including Heidi Swapp.

I don't have anything else much to share. All I have been scrapping has been for the new Q2 Mag - just wait until you see all the papers the DT girls have designed. They are stunning. I'll leave it there, have a great weekend everyone x

Lissy was good enough to take some photos of some of my work I did for the Q1 extras to go to CHA in July. So thanks for that Lis ;)

I love this little house album I have scrapped in Loire Valley (designed by Laine Fraser).
I have to give credit to Jane Jones for the roof - using a tool to create the little circles took me forever and I can't think of the name of them right now. Also the blinds - Jane gave me that idea too! I think they turned out really cute! So thanks Jane :)

I also did some work with Pennyroyale (Mikala Robinson Koss) ... oooh I love this paper collection. Firstly I made a simple little card for the Q1 Launch night and then I made this album for my niece Amy - I hope she likes it!

I also did a clear album and card in Pina Colada (Clare Miller). It was good to scrap some photos of our Thailand holiday ... I have so many (probably 2000+).

Yea I'm on a roll I know hehe. I wanted to make a second one - for another special person having a birthday very soon! After all, if you make one, what's another one huh? Love the Garden Arabesque Paper Collection by Kaisercraft. I even used some of my Heidi Swapp stash that I bought when I went to Heidi's Workshop in December last. It's just so pretty, soft, feminine ... and love the deep purple in this range too! It's so striking but still has warmth.

Pssttt ... I still have to buy the chocolates to fill it ... got to get special ones for this person. She has a favourite ;)

Birthday Cupcakes for my sister

A few weeks ago it was my sister's birthday. I couldn't catch up with her on her special day - but she was so sweet, she invited us to her home for lunch on the Sunday following her birthday. I wanted to make her a cake of some sort, and the big thing at the moment is cupcakes. For some reasons, and my intentions were all good, things didn't go to plan as I ran out of time and my cakes were not as I had originally planned in my mind.

The cakes themselves spilled up over the tops of the cake pans ... ugh! Anyway I pipped icing on top and they looked ok. My sister was very happy with them.

A gift for a friend ...

Finally I have sat and made something for myself at home. It was nice and relaxing. I've been sick for 10 days now, and to be honest, I'm thinking I'm at the end of it now. Because I am over it. Being in the house for 10 days has been yuck to say the least, with work in between.

Anyway, a very special friend of mine is having a birthday next weekend - well the actual day is during this week but I'm pretty sure she doesn't read my blog so I feel safe enough to post my noodle box I made for her on here. It's really simple, as I don't have a lot of energy and wanted to get this done.

I won't say what is inside the tall box - as that is her gift, and if she did come and read my post well at least she won't know what it is. But don't you love the wrapping paper? I think it would make the most gorgeous scrap paper !!!

My boys are both well and my husband Craig is going away for the whole week to Queensland, so I will be on my own.

Little Ugg Boots left behind

Well Cam has gone on camp today to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat for three days. I felt a little bit sad - not about the fact that he won't manage or anything, but just typical Mum things.

He had to be at school at 7am this morning. The bus was leaving from school at 7.30am, and they were to arrive at Sovereign Hill, get changed into olden days costume and attend school as they did in the old days. And to quote Cameron they had to say "Yes Sir" etc hehe. Quite funny.

Even lunches had to be wrapped in "paper" ... no glad wrap or zip lock bags. It was all about authenticity and as much as I grumbled, as I type this post - I guess it is a great experience for the children to make it as realistic as possible.

Anyway, after Craig and Cam left this morning, and I closed the back door, I turned around to see his little ugg boots sitting on the floor near the table neatly. It made me miss him even more.

I hope he has an amazing time. And I really look forward to his return and hearing about his adventures.

Kaisercraft Q1 Layouts

A layout I finished a week ago ...

Just love these photos of Jane taken when I visited for her 41st (*coughs) birthday in April. They were taken at Circular Quay ... I know, she looks gorgeous. I did edit them a little bit because on one of the pics there was a pram coming out of Jane's head LOL. So now that I have completed my Photoshop Course, I have learnt enough to know how to use the cloning tool ;)

As some of you may know, Jane is going through another rough patch in her life. I'm hoping everyone could say a little prayer and kind thought in your dreams tonight. And a special little thought for little Scubby the dog. *woof woof Scubby*

KAISERCRAFT Q1 LAUNCH

I'm not sure where to start here. I think I should start with saying a huge big THANK YOU to Nicole, Laine, Mikala and Clare (our Designers) for the amazing Q1 Event that they organised for the release of our new collections. You girls should all be extremely proud of yourselves. CONGRATULATIONS on the success of the night. I am so proud to know you all personally and see how such young minds can create and organise such a big event. Well done again girls.

To everyone who helped with set up - you did an awesome job. And everyone who worked on the night in the kitchen, on the door, handing our homemade food out to guests - everyone. Every Kaiser staff member who contributed - THANK YOU.

And of course ... Kaiser wouldn't be Kaiser without Carolyn and Steve. Thank you for always believing in us and all we do. It's a pleasure.

Onto the night. When I arrived with Melissa at about 6pm there was a die-hard (LOL) fan out the front parked ready to be recognised as the first guest to arrive. I actually felt nervous about having to mingle as I am a little bit shy - but I did chat with a few people!

Meeting Liz and her husband from Artfull Crafts in New Zealand was a real buzz. They are the most genuine, sincere, warm and friendly people ever. And how fantastic was it that they came all the way from New Zealand - thank you so much for being a part of something so important to us all at Kaiser - we loved having you here.

I also met Nikki Antonello and Christine Rumley. These two girls are part of our Contributing Design Team and Nikki came all the way down from her hometown Wodonga with her girlfriend Michelle. I was just re-reading through Nikki's blog and something that I read made me think how true is was that when she write "I'm in a really happy place". Nikki, if you read this - what you say about yourself radiates from within. When you sometimes meet people, you completely click with and find a real warmth about them - well that's how I felt when I met you. You are lovely and it was a pleasure meeting you, and I so wish I had more time to catch up with you. It would have been a lot of fun and laughs. And I hope we can get together one day and sit and scrap at a Crop. Hehe, I might get my work done at Kaiser, but you should see me at a Crop - I am the worst procrastinator ever and yes, I think I might talk to much. That's probably to take the focus off the fact that I'm not scrapping LOL! Can't wait to see you again Nikki - and you too Michelle!

Onto Christine Rumley. I remember thinking Christine's face was familiar and I asked Nikki if one of the other contributing DT girls was at the launch. We looked around and around and we found her. It was lovely to meet Christine as well - she is a beautiful girl - again so warm and friendly (I know I sound repetitive) but that's how they were to me! I could sit and chat forever with you.

I also asked Christine if she would like to come over to Kaisercraft Admin on Friday morning as it was my day off. So I picked her up and two other girls from Caught the Bug in Kingaroy, QLD - Zennia Powell and Tania Corbet (hehe these ladies are a scream hehe ... still laughing). The girls loved seeing where we all work. We had some morning tea together and I introduced them to some of the staff that they hadn't met. All in all it was pretty fun morning.

It's just the little things .......

I haven't been about much not because I haven't wanted to be. But work has consumed my mojo and I haven't done any scrapping at home for myself. And I miss that! A lot! Having said that I'm still always busy shopping in Chandon Craft and keeping David well fed LOL! (or so he says).

Anyway ... something sweet happened tonight amongst some not-so-nice confrontational realities that I am dealing with right now. And I am finding it really hard. To those girls at work today who noticed I wasn't myself, THANK YOU for being so sweet, kind and thoughtful. I did try to keep it to myself - but I'm only human and some things get to me.

After leaving work, picking up the boys and heading straight to the library to get some books for Cameron for his term assignment, I started dinner. We sat down at 5pm - yes I know it is pensioner time! Anyway, I heard the phone ring, thinking it might be Craig ringing from Sydney. It wasn't. It was a friend. A friend who cares. Anyway I decided we would sit and have our dinner and if I could manage it a bit later, I was going to ring her back.

After dinner, I got straight into my PJ's and I've come here to put a special little thank you note for her.

You know what Jane ... it's not the big things, it's the little things. It's a sincere SMS that you send, it's that you want to listen, it's the phone message you left - OMGOSH you made me laugh, and not because I had to, but because you cracked me up! Would you believe Jane rang not once, but twice? The first message the answering machine cut her off LOL, and the second message started something like this "Hi Al, just ringing back because I wanted to know if it is raining down there?", and "where can I buy some nice warm bed socks (my feet are freezing), and "what was that oil thing that you showed me at the shop, what flavour is it?" ... If that doesn't make you laugh, nothing will :)

"pick up pick up pick up" ...... now I didn't hear either of the two messages until I had dinner and popped in to listen.

For anyone out there, who doesn't know Jane - I wish you did. May you be as fortunate as I am. Much love to you Jane at a difficult time - for you - and me xx

As most of you know, I'm not one to go out of my way to be published. However, we were given the opportunity a few months back now to be a part of a Shaped Technique Focus at Scrapbook Creations.

I was so pleased to hear from my SIL Jules that the mag was out. And finally today, I got a copy for myself. And I'm pretty darn happy to see my little guy Cameron in the mag. The only other time I've been published is a layout I did of Bailey, so I think that Cameron is going to be a little bit pleased when he sees himself there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ~ Jane Jones ~

Just thought I would leave a special little message here for Jane - it's her 40th (dream on Jane) birthday again ... mmm hehe. And I know I've not been blogging too well lately, but when it is something important about someone you really have an amazing friendship with - well it's really important, in my opinion, to take a few minutes longer and make that person's day just a little bit more special.

So cheers to you Janey - thanks for letting me share your birthday with you - I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight - ok I lied (that's the second time today LOL) because I will be so tired. I know when my alarm goes off at 4am tomorrow morning I'll be grizzling and moaning and grumbling - but once I'm on my way I'll be ok. And btw - I'm wearing 3/4 pants if you read this LOL.

Kaisercraft Layouts

It's been a while since I have blogged I know. But I have been really really crazy busy! The only scrapping I've been doing is at work. And after work, well eh ... I'm fizzed out LOL!

So here are some new layouts I've been doing for work.

This is the simple plan for April. Melissa and I thought we would do a Simple Plan - I don't think we have before, and it was fun!

I chose to use the new Mamma Bushka Paper Collection - and the photo I used is Simon's little sweet girl Lola - that's why she is sweetness *sigh*
I didn't stick "exactly" to the simple plan, but this is my take on it!

Another layout I did quite some time ago is using the new Garden Arabesque Paper Collection. This paper is so pretty - I'm not a fan of purple - but I really like the paper. It was designed by Mikala!

I used a photograph of one of my girlfriend's daughter's Amelia - another sweetie too!

And last but not least, because this layout features my little boy Bailey - I have used the Marrakesh Paper Collection (Clare designed this paper) ... this is the second layout I have done - but cannot share the other layout as it is off for publication.

Bailey's 9th Birthday

Hi everyone ... been MIA again I know. Work has been so busy, I've been busy on the phone, with visitors - you name it, I've been doing it LOL.

So it is Bailey's 9th Birthday tomorrow ... he's a great little guy - funny, loving, generous, sweet, kind, thoughtful and our little boy. We are really blessed to have such a wonderful boy.

I always get the boys to chose their birthday cakes. Last year I didn't make cakes for the boys as my Dad was too sick and I wanted to spend my time with him. But this year I have time, and this is the results of an hour this morning to decorate. Made the cakes last night and the buttercream. Coloured the buttercream this morning. It was fun - the great part about it was that Bai and I went and got all the lollies from the Yummy Mummy Lolly Shop in Belmont. You get exactly what you want, without the excess - I really recommend it. And the other great bit - the lollies are awesome quality.

My 43rd Birthday

I had some celebrations for my birthday. I didn't think I would be well enough, but I turned a corner about midday on Saturday and felt ok. I decided on Lamby's again where I had celebrated my 40th. The food was good and the venue is lovely too!
Anyway here are some share photos. Thanks to all my lovelies who came along and celebrated with me. You all made my night, and thanks for making me feel special. xx

Took some photos of our meals too, because they were so well presented, and they were fantastic! I had the lamb shank .. it is to die for :)

A Thai Layout .....

Well I found a nice sketch - well it wasn't a sketch but I loved the LO in a scrap magazine recently and made myself a sketch ... and no I'm not good at proportions etc. But this is my take on my sketch. And no you can't see my sketch LOL!

The cardstock is Bella, and the other papers are Bazz and MM from the Noteworthy Range. New Kasier rubon quote, flower border and pearls. Plus prima flowers. Thickers letters too!

Ribbons, ribbons and more ribbons .....

Ok I know I am totally inundated with ribbons. It's not like I have a fetish, but when I see ribbons I think "Oh I might need that" ... so I buy it.

After having seen the way Jane did her ribbons, it inspired me to do mine, so I did them a few weeks ago at a crop. It was good to not have too take too much scrap stuff along and I could sit and talk and focus and it was all too easy. I wasn't really sure where to hang these, but I remembered this beautiful Home Hanging Plaque that Jane gave me for Christmas, and it's just perfect!

So here they are ... almost finished. A few extra's to pop on still but pretty much done.

Back to school 2009

Well another set of school holidays are over, and to be truthful, I didn't have much time with my boys. I had some family things going on that needed taking care of. So it kind of gobbled up our holidays and I was back at work the week prior for two full days plus a day at home.

Just a quick post, one of many I have to catch up on. I have a few things I will be putting up shortly on my blog.

I was off work yesterday not well - but I'm feeling ok today.

So the reason for this post is to thank Jane for her knowledge of Picasa 3. I love how you can add blocks of photos to your blog pages, and various other elements within Picasa Web Albums.

Also love how you can add slideshows from Picasa - I really like how Jane has set up her blog to display her work from layouts, cards and BTP. She has inspired me to add my work in too. I plan to ask for lots of my .pdf files at work today so I can display my Kaiser work on my blog.

Fundraiser at Kaiser for Bushfire Victims

There are many many fundraisers and appeals for our Bushfire Victims, and not everyone can donate to everything and for those that have donated something, I am so sure the victims of the bushfires will be so thankful.

The girls are organising a crop at the Kaiser Outlet in Latrobe Terrace and any donations would be welcomed.

Details are as follows:

27th February - 6pm - 10pm there will be a crop at the Outlet store - $10 entry but all donations are accepted. This will be forwarded to the Fire Appeals.

It would be awesome if we could all get together and help out those less fortunate than us. I cannot imagine the sadness those people must be going through. I saw on an early morning program this morning, tents everywhere that people are sleeping in. Waking up in your own bed and strange surroundings is something you should do by choice. Too sad :(

Lyndal - you should have come down here for the fundraiser. It wasn't that hot - the outlet has like 10 air conditioners - ok maybe 8. It was very cool in there, in fact cooler than at home. And when the lights went off, the door was opened and there was a most beautiful breeze. Our special helper Simon also came and opened some cavity things in the ceiling (thanks so much Simon x) and it made it even cooler!

FUNDRAISER for a little 10 year old boy ...

I called in to the Kaisercraft Outlet today, and Cheryl told me that a fundraiser/crop was being held on FRIDAY 30TH JANUARY for a dear little boy. I have done a copy and paste from Jess' Facebook (hope that's ok Jess x) so here is the information. Please please PLEASE come along and help this family out.

Liam Foster is 10 years old, is one of ten children to Mary & Greg Foster and he is suffering a brain tumour. Liam recently had surgery to remove the tumour but they weren't able to get it all. On the 22nd Dec he commenced an eight week course of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy at the Peter McCallum Institute in Melbourne. Liam and his family reside outside Meredith near Geelong.

Audra Mee (a friend of the family,) is raising much needed funds to help his parents cope with additional medical and associated expenses and we would like to help her by holding a crop night on the 30th January 2009.
COST: $5 per person. Please bring a plate to share and non perishable item for hamper.

We will be holding a raffle to be drawn on the night and door prizes.

A painting we will go, a painting we will go ... hi ho

Ok I have gone on and on about this. So I feel it is only right that I share and document this painting saga on my blog. I think I might even scrap it LOL!

So we had the renovations done 3 years ago this July ... ok be quiet, I've been busy and painting takes a long time LOL. But it is done. And the end result is what matters huh? Tell me that's right. So the french doors were done before Christmas, and I've just finished the back door today. I do feel good. I do feel proud of myself. Now to finish the painting in the house ... at least I don't do that alone. I like painting with Craig ;)

Heidi Swapp Calendar

After a little push from a certain someone *coughs* who shall remain unnamed teehee, I took some photos tonight - and if they aren't that good, well it isn't my fault. I've been real busy painting the back door ... and it's finally finished, and yes it feels really good to be done!

Now what was I saying? Oh yea, the calendar. Finished, and done. The stamping/rubons of all the numbers for the days of the months took ages, but I got there. I was up until midnight on Friday night and couldn't do December's dates. I just couldn't face it. My eyeballs were falling out of their sockets LOL.

Thanks so much to Heidi for the remainder of her instructions she sent to those who attended the Create 08. I hope I did ok ;)

And yes Jane, you have been very patient ;)

A layout ... scrapping for myself

Well I did some more tidying up today in my scrap room, made some more cards, and I did a layout ... I know ... I can't believe it myself. I did a layout because I wanted to. I cannot remember the last time I did that. It is usually for work, or for a frenzy or for a cybercrop. So it felt so great to just create. And I had this photo of Cam lying around for ages. I'd actually been waiting on some Daisy D Rubons (which are no longer available) because I was going to do a second layout for Cam the same as I did for Bai. Does that make sense cos it is kinda late LOL?

Anyway, I loved using the Pink Paislee papers ... and I found some leftover paper from our day with Heidi and I reckon it matches pretty darn great. So loving Heidi's stuff at the moment - it just falls together!

On another quick note, I have finished my Heidi Swapp Calendar and I will take photo's in the sunlight tomorrow and upload. It was awesome fun, and I love the end result. So please pop back tomorrow!

I have to also let you know the scan didn't work very well. I have used foam tape and it has bulked the leaves next to the photo and it wouldn't scan very nice. Oh yea, the loveheart at the top right of the photo is a mirror heart of Heidi's ... it's not black ewww!

Christmas Festivities and stuff

Well, I am finally sitting down and finding the time to blog some of the past month of happenings here in our home.

Firstly, there was our work Christmas Party at Dromoland House in Newtown. On arrival we found our seats, caught up with everyone, admired everyone's dresses (as girls do LOL), ooohed and aahhed, sat down to our first course. We had a three course meal for the evening. Awards were presented - Employee of the Year went to Aaron - well done Az, you are awesome, and Runner Up went to Simon Davies - good on you Simon!

The Managers all dressed up as Village People ... OMGOSH I don't think I have ever laughed so much in all my life. It was hysterical - I really admire the guys for donning on costumes, coming out and strutting their stuff to YMCA! Fantastic job!

As for our Christmas, well it was a whirlwind of fun, with celebrations all around! We had the best ever celebrations here at our home with my sister Glenda and her hubby Pete, my niece Melissa and nephew Andre, my Mum and us 4. It was just fantastic. So much fun, laughter and happiness!

Our boys had a great time - lots of presents to unwrap. Well ok, this Christmas was a little quieter present wise as we'd just been on our holiday. But nonetheless, they were very happy :)

I have a few other things to share but will leave it there for a while. I've just had an early morning phone call to deal with.

Heidi Swapp Create 08 Workshop

All I can say is WOW. WOW! WOW! WOW! Yesterday was the best day ever. Yes I felt under the pump etc., but I really loved the end result. It was harder than a day's work ladies.

The Melbourne Venue was in Surrey Hills at a Chalet. We arrived and registered and our goodies were fantastic. A beautiful silver bag with two boxes and a calendar *squeals* It's all good I'm telling you. Any scrapper would be thrilled!

Heidi started with her slideshow presentation to warm us up and introduce herself and the techniques we would be doing for the day. We worked on calendar pages - they look fantastic! I will put up some peeks when I take some photos!

After lunch we worked on a mini album. This was the highlight for me. Heidi's explained some things that were very close to her heart - I know 4 of the 5 of us who went together were wiping away the tears. I don't think I asked Deb, I'm sure she would have had tears too! The album is awesome. I can't wait to show you when I finish.

I love that we learned some new techniques with the masks and stamping and inking. OMGOSH it was fun!

So if you EVER get the opportunity, save your dollars and GO! Do not hesitate, do not think about it, just register. You would love it!

I came across this on someone's blog and thought how beautiful and inspiring it is. It is here for us to learn from. I know it made me think of things that ARE important and those that are NOT. There is no way I would EVER treat someone like this anyway, but it did bring a tear to my eye. How can a child make us see something so simple? Please take the time to read through - it's really heart warming!

The Wooden Bowl

I guarantee you will remember the tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now, a year from now.

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year - old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step altered.

The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess.

'We must do something about father,' said the son.
'I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.'

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.
There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl.

When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence.

One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor.
He asked the child sweetly, 'What are you making?'

Just as sweetly, the boy responded, 'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up. ' The four-year-old smiled and went back to work.

The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

On a positive note, I've learned that, no matter what happens, how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things: a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a 'life..'

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands.

You need to be able to throw something back I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you but, if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.

I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone.

People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

Just wanted to pop up a post for Melissa Kennedy - she is celebrating her birthday today - I won't say how old LOL.

We are going to Panini Cafe for breakfast after we drop the kids off to school this morning, which I'm sure is going to be yummy. Hope there is some soft food for Lis to eat - she's still struggling to eat because of her braces.

Then we are heading to the Kaisercraft Outlet to set up for the Crop for a Cause Workshop tomorrow. We got together during the week and did some little surprises for Saturday's crop. I'm positive the girls are going to love them! We had lots of laughs and caught up on some much needed girl talk (as you do).

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIS ... hope you have a great day. And hope you get lots of presents!

I made some special little CD Folders for the girls when we had Christmas in November at Jane's place. I made them using a folder from Scrapbook Crazy. I included a CD of photographs from our meeting up in August 2008 at the Craft & Stitches Show.

I thought I might do a little countdown on my blog - as my boys remind me each day with their Advent Calendar that it is another day closer to Christmas.

This is definitely my favourite time of the year ... from catching up with friends who you don't often see, seeing the joy and hearing the laughter of the boys with their excitement, Kris Kringle's all around us, shopping, putting up our Christmas tree and hanging decorations, eating mince pies (it is only once a year after all), Christmas puddings, .... there is so much more!

So today is the first day of Christmas ... hope it begins as a perfect start to the silly season for you also!

I am having a mini cybercrop with Jane tonight. We are doing a mini album made by Bella with Bella papers and some journalling spots. We have our webcam set up ready to go. This should be a heap of fun!

Funnily enough, we were testing out the webcams this week and there was this most odd sound coming through when we spoke. It kinda sounded like aliens. It was weird! So hopefully, that has gone tonight when we begin our cybercrop about 7pm. Stayed tuned for some pics!

The boys, well more particularly Bailey, had been asking for a Halloween Party since last year, and we thought hmmm ... why not, this will be fun?

So when we got home from our holiday we all went shopping to choose things for decorating. I could not believe how much Craig kept piling on the counter. Pretty good huh?

It was time consuming decorating, but it was great fun. The cooking was a laugh too ... I made eyeball punch, ghost meringues, pumpkin cookies and eyeball cakes. Other things that my girlfriends made were witches fingers, hands filled with popcorn, and a graveyard. It was all about the fun for the kids. And they had a fantastic time.

Thailand - two weeks in review

We had the BEST time ever in Thailand and I would really recommend it for a family holiday. The weather is absolutely beautiful - even though it was a little overcast as we travelled in their rainy season. The Thai people are gorgeous. The only minor issue we noticed was that when the stock market crashed recently, Thailand pulled out and their baht remained high. Our AUD was down under 20c which made things a bit more expensive. But all things aside, it was an amazing holiday.

The boys loved swimming everyday, and honestly, they probably would have spent 24/7 in the pools if we let them.

Anyway, these are the first photos we took after leaving the airport. I mentioned to Clare that I could not believe the power lines in Thailand. It's incredible. They are just all jumbled up together. I don't know how it all works :)

I took lots of photos of the pool. These give a bit of an idea from different views. There were three pools right down the middle of the motel. It was great - you could choose where you swam, hire towels etc. We swam at Pool 1 all the time, as our room was just near it on the first level.

These are some snapshots from our visit to the Phuket Zoo! This was one of those zoos that if you were an animal lover, it was a little upsetting to see how the animals are kept. Having said that, I realise that that is the lifestyle in Thailand. I wish some of the cages could have been bigger and cleaner.

I think there are enough pics here to let you all see how great it was. I took over 2000 photos - so I have lots!

Yes I'm sorry ... it's been quite a while. Everything except my family, friends and work have been neglected. But I've had a most wonderful holiday and I spent every single day in the pool with my boys playing. I have NEVER laughed so much in my life - it was amazing. I really got to know my two little boys - who aren't so little anymore - they've grown up a lot. They are really little men now!

I will update shortly with some photos of our holiday. Let me just say - the Thai people are just beautiful, and Thailand has a wonderful culture and some amazing sights to see. From their spectacular show Fanta-Sea, their markets, Phuket Zoo and all the beautiful islands surrounding it - it really is worthy of anyone's family holiday.

Work is busy busy busy. I will definitely update about this too. The new Kaisercraft Outlet is FANTASTIC! I know a huge amount of credit goes to Simon, Richelle and Chez - and all staff at Kaiser for the work involved. You guys did a great job and I was truly gobsmacked when I came home and saw it ... I felt very proud to be a part of the team.

That's it. Signing off now. Have to get ready for work. First day back with Melissa - and yes I'm looking forward to a catch up with her.

Oh I hadn't forgotten my wonderful father in law and his wife June, but I just hadn't had the time to make this card, and I knew I had a little extra up my sleeve as Les and June are away on holidays. I'd made a note of things I need to do ... the list was getting longer than my arm. So finally, I came to the "card for Les and June" ...... so about 1/2 hour I played with this paper, and gosh it is pretty and easy to use. Probably the easiest card I have ever done. It really fell together, and I totally love it myself.

Ok it's been a few weeks since I've blogged ... it sure does go by fast!

Father's Day was very hard this year. I really hadn't given it a great deal of thought aside from wanting it to be good for Craig. But, by mid-morning it was all too much. The reality hit that I wouldn't be giving my Dad his "Dad's Bag of Darrell Lea Chocolates" ... which is a tradition in our families - both Craig's and mine. I just kept seeing my Dad sitting at the table, in his spot, and watching the curves of his mouth turn into a wonderful smile with all the chocolate and licorice. It made my heart ache. We each took a beautiful long stemmed red rose out to the cemetary ... it was one of the hardest things I've done since losing Dad.

On a little happier note, we spent lunch at Lord of the Isles which was nice. It was great not to have to cook actually LOL.

Work has been so busy. We've been doing Workshop Mag projects full-steam ahead. It's been hectic arghhh! But I think we can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

It's not long until our Thailand holiday now. I'm still sitting quiet about it. I haven't done much in the way of getting packed at all. In fact, I've done nothing LOL. But I do plan to ..... after this weekend.

It's going to be a big weekend here in Geelong. The Geelong Football Club are in the AFL Grand Final playing against Hawthorn. Go THE MIGHTY CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two Premierships back to back would be most fantastic! We have friends coming over to watch it with us. We have lots of food ... cheese & dip platters, BBQ and dessert. Piggy piggies! And one of my friends Bee recommended this drink called "Ice" ... it is champagne that you drink on Ice. So cheers everyone - we are going to be sipping away nicely :)

School holidays are here in Victoria so I have the boys home. I know how blessed I am really. They are great little boys - I hardly have to speak to them. Ok they kicked the footy on the roof, but really in the grand scheme of things I guess they could be little pains to have around. They do keep themselves amused ... I did tell them that the holidays would be "boring" LOL. But only 2 weeks until we go away! So I think they're pretty good with that.

Our phone line has been out for two weeks. Ugh ... it's such a nuisance. Optus have re-directed our phone through to my mobile - which at times has been an inconvenience especially at work when these bloody "no numbers" come up and I need to answer in case it is Optus. People hiding their phone numbers really annoys me. I understand people with private numbers for their own reasons, but govt and business? I mean it is total crap. And we will not be reimbursed by Optus for any phone calls we have had to make from our mobile - which pretty much sucks. I don't know if there will be any compensation at this stage, but they will get a run for their money from me LOL.

Ok ... time to wrap it up. Have to get rid of my curls, and get organised for my day off. Am dropping some stuff back off to work and then Cam and I will do some things together. Bailey stayed at a friends for a sleepover - so I hope he's had a fun time.
